jai gurudev :)
dean martin's velvety voice is part of my earliest childhood memories along with songs from classics like guide, aandhi and anand .. the voices i heard on those long summer afternoons when it would be blistering outside while the house was cool in a way only ground floor flats can be ; would remain clearer in my memory than any people have been ..
my favourites were and have been "that's amore" and "volare".. love that song :) .. he" has" this charm in his voice that can keep you hooked to his songs for decades .. you just never grow out of them. And especially if you watch him perform those songs ( ;) youtube of course ) you see why they called him the king of cool ... his charisma could knock any girl out of her socks and his humour and that smile will have you grinning as soon as he comes on screen .. one of the best entertainers of all times ..
now there are these out and out love songs like amore, the man who plays the mandalino, sway ,babyface and l.o.v.e. .. and then there are these songs which leave you with that feeling of a story that begins with an inkling of an end so tragic that you dont want it to end .. like " accustomed", "wont you come back home "..
he had these eyes that could switch from twinkling with mischief ( full of that ho ho ho kind of cheer) to being so forlorn in a few moments ..
cheers deano :) to happy memories :)
" there's a very special request today ..but i'll sing anyhow .."
